Delta County plans to spend $60,195,703 in 2024 — up $6 million from 2023 and almost triple since 2016. County Administrator Robbie LeValley told County Commissioners at December’s special meeting called to adopt the 2024 budget that the large increase is due to planned capital projects including renovating the historic Carnegie building into offices for the Sheriff’s department and expanding the current jail. Spending for these projects are expected to exceed $5 million. LeValley told Commissioners that "funding for the detention facility remodel will come from the American Rescue Act, PILT and Capital Improvement respectively."
